ICP Board Election 2026: Call for Nominations

The term of office of three members of the ICP Board of Directors expires on 30 June 2026.  Nominations are invited for the election of ICP Board members, who will hold office from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2029.

Three board members — one representative each from the industry, government, and academe are to be elected. Only active REGULAR members of the ICP (chemists) may nominate and be nominated.

The elected members of the board are expected to regularly attend the meetings of the ICP and actively participate in activities geared towards achieving the objectives of the ICP as follows:

  1. Support the implementation of the Chemistry Profession Act and the Code of Ethics for chemists and safeguard the professional interests of the registered chemists.
  2. Make the chemistry professionals (both chemists and chemical technicians) conscious of their serious responsibilities in helping the country develop.
  3. Provide a forum to exchange ideas on the chemistry profession.
  4. Cultivate discipline among the members, develop the spirit of camaraderie, and maintain occupational standards.
  5. Encourage and foster chemical education.
  6. Develop a continuing program of activities leading towards upgrading of standards, such as accreditation of laboratories and professional competencies.

ICP Elections 2026 – Nomination Guidelines

The Integrated Chemists of the Philippines (ICP) invites nominations for its 2026 elections. Below are the official guidelines:

Eligibility

  • Only active Regular Members in good standing may nominate, be nominated, and vote.
  • Self-nominations are not accepted.
  • The ICP Membership Committee will verify the status of all nominators, nominees, and voters.

Nomination Process

  • The ICP Election Committee (COMELEC) will contact nominees using the email provided by the nominator.
  • To be considered an official candidate, nominees must:
    • Accept the nomination via email on or before the deadline.
    • Submit a CV using the ICP COMELEC-prescribed format. (see link below).

Timeline

  • Nomination Period: 01 Apr- 15 May 2026
    • ➤ Nomination form must be submitted by 12:00 NN, 15 May 2026
  • Posting of Official Nominees: 30 May 2026
    • ➤ Visit https://www.icp.org.ph/ for updates
    • *Official nominees/candidates shall prepare a short video-clip (2-minutes maximum) to present their plans/platforms in case they get elected. 02 June 2026
  • Election Period: 10–27 June 2026
    • ➤ Results will be announced on 30 June 2026

Term of Office

  • Elected officers will serve a term of three (3) years: 2026–2029.

Tie-Breaking Mechanism

If candidates receive a tie in the number of votes, the following procedure applies:

  1. Runoff Election. A runoff election shall be conducted between the tied candidates within seven (7) days after the official announcement of the initial election results. Only active Regular Members in good standing may vote in the runoff election.
  2. Announcement of Results. The ICP Election Committee (COMELEC) shall announce the runoff election results within three (3) days after the close of voting.
  3. Persistent Tie. In the event that the runoff election also results in a tie, the winner shall be determined by drawing of lots conducted by the ICP COMELEC in the presence of the tied candidates or their representatives, and the result shall be deemed final.

Handling of Election Protests

  1. Who May File a Protest
    Any active Regular Member of the Integrated Chemists of the Philippines (ICP) in good standing who participated in the election may file an election protest.
  2. Grounds for Protest
    A protest may be filed based on alleged irregularities in the conduct of the nomination process, voting procedures, vote counting, or other matters that may have materially affected the outcome of the election.
  3. Filing of Protest
    The protest must be submitted in writing and addressed to the ICP Election Committee (COMELEC) within three (3) days from the official announcement of election results. The protest should clearly state the grounds and include any supporting evidence or documentation.
  4. Review and Resolution
    The ICP COMELEC shall review the protest and may request additional information from the concerned parties if necessary. The committee shall render a decision within seven (7) days from receipt of the protest.
  5. Finality of Decision
    The decision of the ICP COMELEC, once affirmed by the ICP Board of Directors, shall be considered final and executory.
