Job Responsibilities:

Duties and Responsibilities

-Ensures that lab cleanliness and safety standards are maintained.
-Conducts routine and non-routine analysis of in-process materials, raw materials, environmental samples, finished goods and retention samples.
-Completes documentation needed to support testing procedures including data capture forms, inspection and testing logbooks or inventory forms.
-Interprets test results, compare them to established specifications and control limits, and make recommendations on appropriateness of data of release
-Receives and inspects raw and packaging materials.
-Conducts Microbiological testing for in process and finished products
-Signs analysis of certification of food and pharmaceutical products before release for public use or consumption
-Resolve any arising quality related problems or product complaints.
-Ensure support in any incident/deviation investigations and in the identification and implementation of CAPA
-Help maintain all activities in an inspection ready status ahead of any internal or external audits to ensure successful inspections (e.g no critical observations related to quality.
-Support in executing continuous improvement actions and projects
-To ensure compliance to cGMP/GDP, FDA, Halal, HSE, and other regulatory requirements.
-Perform other related tasks assigned by immediate supervisor/management

Job Qualifications:

-Graduate of BS Chemistry or BS Pharmacy (PRC license required)
-1-3 years experience in Pharmaceutical/Food manufacturing
-Knowledge of principles and methods of Food Science, Physics, Chemistry or Biology; Production/Manufacturing processes, and quality assurance practices.
-Capable of performing physico-chemical analysis
-Use of methods such as titration, gravimetric analysis, electrochemical measurements, spectroscopy, and others.
-Willing to work in Las Piñas City

ICP Panay Elects New Set of Chapter Officers

The Integrated Chemists of the Philippines – Panay Chapter, Inc. (ICP Panay) has elected their new set of officers last 30 January 2021 during their first virtual general assembly via Zoom.

Outgoing chapter president Prof. Steve Janagap presided over the election proceeding, which was done purely online. The newest set of officers who will serve until 31 December 2022 are the following:

ICP’s Panay, Bacolod Chapters Conduct Separate Virtual General Assemblies

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic did not hinder two regional chapters of the Integrated Chemists of the Philippines (ICP) to each conduct an inaugural virtual general assembly for their respective members last 30 January 2021.


The virtual general assembly of ICP-Panay Chapter via Zoom gathered around 80 of its members. No less than ICP National President Dr Fabian Dayrit and ICP National Vice-President for External Affairs Ms Edna Mijares graced the event. Dr Dayrit gave a summary of activities that were done by the national chapter, while Ms Mijares echoed the Professional Board of Chemistry’s presentation on the career progression program for chemistry professionals. Outgoing chapter president Mr Steve Janagap and outgoing chapter treasurer Ms Aneline Tolones also gave their respective reports on the summary of activities in the past year and the state of financial health of the chapter.

Two lectures then followed: Mr Arjunn Marven Calvo (Legal Section Chief, Environmental Management Bureau Regional Office VI) talked on environmental laws that chemical laboratories must strictly practice, while Dr Annabelle Villalobos (Consultant, Johnson & Johnson Biopharmaceuticals, USA) explained in-depth the challenges and current situation of COVID-19 vaccines. Both lectures provided a wealth of knowledge to the attendees.

Their general assembly also served as a way to elect new officers of the chapter. Professor Jay Martizano of the University of the Philippines Visayas was unanimously elected as ICP-Panay’s new Chapter President. He and other newly elected chapter officers were inducted by ICP National President Dr Fabian Dayrit.


Meanwhile, ICP-Bacolod Chapter held its first virtual general membership meeting via Google Meet with around 50 members in attendance. ICP National Vice-President for External Affairs gave the opening remarks and answered a few questions regarding certain issues such as laboratory inspection and hazard pay. Chapter President Ms Roselyn Usero provided a summary of activities that the chapter was able to accomplish in the past year, most notably the assistance that the chapter provided to COVID-19 frontliners in the area. The meeting was not all work as prizes such as shirts and lanyards were raffled off, much to the delight of the attendees.

Responsibilities:

1. Assist the QMO to ensure that the CTC meet the requirement of PNS ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
2. Ensure that the CTC’s quality procedures and standards are adhered to.
3. Support the Chemical Testing Group, Physical Testing Group and Technical Services Group in the preparation of the quality system documentation.
4. Coordinate, implement and maintain the CTC’s document control system. Maintain a list of documents and forms (Master List) and identify location of electronic data and printed copies.
5. Check, review and organize all copies of the quality system documentation to ensure that the quality manual, procedures, work instructions, forms and other references are consistent and updated and controlled (no unauthorized distribution or reproduction). Ensure easy retrieval of official documents and records when requested by internal or external party, upon approval of the QMO.
6. Respond to user requests for documentation.
7. Support accurate management of equipment labeling.
8. Investigate and implement corrective actions related to document control.
9. Assist QMO with new employee inductions especially in proper orientation on document handling and control.
10. Participate in trainings as required to achieve the level of competence for the document controller.
11. Ensure all documents and records are disposed properly according to the established retention period.
12. Prepare minutes of the laboratory meetings and coordinate issues arising/pending for action to person in-charge. Provide copies of the minutes to all groups within one week after the meeting.

14. Review test certificates for error in customer details based on sample receiving report.
15. Assist CTC’s Secretary in proper filing and organization of all official test reports and test certificates.
16. Coordinate with IT consultant on the proper and complete back-up of all electronic data.
17. Inform all concerned group of the revision/changes in documents and forms.
18. Comply with the CTC’s Health & Safety Policies.

Supervision of CME production plant laboratory

Success in this role will require you to fulfill the following responsibilities:

1. Provides supervision on daily laboratory activities
2. Performs analysis of raw materials, in-process and finished product samples
3. Prepares weekly schedule of analystsEstablish, execute, review and evaluate laboratory procedures and policies for operating functions of the laboratory
4. Reviews and ensures that laboratory results are submitted on time to Plant Supervisor/Field Technician
5. Monitors preventive maintenance and calibration calendar of laboratory equipment and glasswares, and ensures that they are conducted by accredited service providers as scheduled.
6. Ensures that laboratory records and reports are maintained
7. Coordinates all testing requirements by DOE necessary to conduct and complete the tests with third-party laboratories, for services that cannot be conducted at the SEAOIL laboratory due to absence of testing equipment
8. Searches for prospective suppliers of laboratory instruments/equipment to make the laboratory more capable of testing procedures recommended by the Philippine National Standards (PNS) and/or American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM)
9. Submits purchase requisitions of laboratory supplies and chemicals as requested by the analysts and ensure that laboratory is within the provided annual operating expense budget
10. Ensures that laboratory permits are in place and coordinate with Legal Department
11. Coordinates with Plant Supervisor/Manager for quality issuesCoordinates with Equipment Suppliers for any troubleshooting, as needed
