Job Title:

Laboratory Chemist

Job Responsibilities:

  • Over-all supervision of Chemistry Laboratory Operations.
  • Ensures that the procedures are done in the chemistry lab, as well as calibration of the competencies of laboratory analysts, and other laboratory assistants/technicians in relation to the standards set. 
  • Verifies result produced by the chemistry laboratory personnel before releasing it to the clients.
  • Serves as the reference analyst in the physical-chemical tests. 
  • Trains the chemistry laboratory analysts in all aspects of laboratory analyses to ensure correct analysis. 
  • Assists the Operations Manager in the general supervision of the laboratory.
  • Conducts daily chemistry analyses according to Standard Method for the Examination of Water and Wastewater and specific protocols.
  • Oversees purchasing and inventory system, including ordering and database updating, as it applies to the chemistry laboratory.
  • Performs all chemical laboratory quality control procedures including setup of control charting spike samples and proficiency test samples.
  • Reviews and authors applicable Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Leads in meeting turnaround time commitments for chemistry laboratory.
  • Prepares and submits all records (data logs, and instrument books) in a timely, and neat manner to the Operations Manager.
  • Assures adherence to the safety and health policies and procedures in the chemistry laboratory.
  • Provides technical support for clients, if need be.
  • Performs other tasks that may be assigned by the Operations Manager.Job Qualifications:

Job Title:

Laboratory Analyst-Chemistry

Job Responsibilities:

  • He/She will work 40 hours per week, although may be required to work overtime during specific phases of experiments.
  • To perform physico-chemical, and microbiological analysis of potable water and wastewater in the chemistry and environmental laboratories.
  • Will work under the supervision of a laboratory head and seasoned laboratory analysts.
  • Will conduct repetitive lab activities, such as setting up lab equipment, preparation of chemical solutions, test/analysis and interpretation of results, filing of data, and occasional field sampling with the field service assistants
  • As time progresses, the lab analyst will complete a greater number of tasks that will be performed by a highly trained chemist.
  • Part of the task is to monitor chemical processes and piloting test procedures and laboratory process improvements.

Job Qualifications:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist the QMO to ensure that the CTC meet the requirement of PNS ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
  • Ensure that the CTC’s quality procedures and standards are adhered to.
  • Support the Chemical Testing Group, Physical Testing Group and Technical Services Group in the preparation of the quality system documentation.
  • Coordinate, implement and maintain the CTC’s document control system.  Maintain a list of documents and forms (Master List) and identify location of electronic data and printed copies.
  • Check, review and organize all copies of the quality system documentation to ensure that the quality manual, procedures, work instructions, forms and other references are consistent and updated and controlled (no unauthorized distribution or reproduction).  Ensure easy retrieval of official documents and records when requested by internal or external party, upon approval of the QMO.
  • Respond to user requests for documentation.
  • Support accurate management of equipment labeling.
  • Investigate and implement corrective actions related to document control.
  • Assist QMO with new employee inductions especially in proper orientation on document handling and control.
  • Participate in trainings as required to achieve the level of competence for the document controller.
  • Ensure all documents and records are disposed properly according to the established retention period.
  • Prepare minutes of the laboratory meetings and coordinate issues arising/pending for action to person in-charge.  Provide copies of the minutes to all groups within one week after the meeting.

  • Review test certificates for error in customer details based on sample receiving report.

  • Coordinate with IT consultant on the proper and complete back-up of all electronic data.
  • Inform all concerned group of the revision/changes in documents and forms.
